| Our DC applied RD to UMich. On Friday when other kids heard from Michigan. He got email saying we have everything to review your application if he is still interested to let them know. There was a link and he clicked yes. Sunday he received another email asking for LOCI or new information if any. Email mentioned it is voluntary and not required to review his RD application. This is strange. Anyone else in same situation. |
| what is LOCI? |
Letter Of Continued Interest |
| My EA kid was deferred to RD and they asked for it. Maybe they ask everyone? |
Every EA deferred is as asked but not sure why in one sentence they are saying we have everything to review and send us more information you want to. It is voluntary. Not sure if the EA deferred and RD pile is big and they just want to reduce it by asking this ( just guessing). All our DC friends did EA and deferred. No one did RD hopefully someone here did RD and let me know. |
| Was it coming from a doctor with connections in the athletic dept? If so stay away. |

Holy moly
They have lost their damn minds |
I am not sure. But our DC does not play any sports. |
| Maybe they got him mixed up w/ a deferred EA applicant? |

The whole LOCI thing is absurd. They should just let you click a box that says "no I haven't decided to go anywhere else".
Instead they make kids write a whole new "Why Michigan" essay that they aren't going to read carefully. It just puts the apps in a "take this student seriously" pile. |
That's not a small feat |
| Kids already wrote essays and now facing deferrals and have to write more. Not many kids have anything extra to share especially in this case applied RD. |
If I had to go through 60,000 applications (or whatever it is now) I’d want the additional info. If you can’t be bothered to write 250 words, you’re not really interested so yeah, you can go to the bottom of the pile. |
+1 |
| My kid applied to Michigan RD last year and I recall that they asked him for a LOCI. Found that odd but assumed that they asked everyone (both deferred and new applicants). He ended up sending one. |
