Well said. Thank you! |
Ugh yes it is. Just not under the mantle of CRT. Make no mistake, it's being taught. |
Please don’t equate CRT with DEI. CRT is not taught in school under any mantle. |
No, it really isn't, you stupid idiot. Again, you're the poster child for WHY it should be taught. Regrettably, it isn't. Let's stop with the two fictions: 1) That it is taught; and 2) That it shouldn't be. Of course it SHOULD be taught. Most people agree with that. |
He and his cronies are trying to create more opportunities for for-profit schools. But first they need to get vouchers into parents’ hands so there’s more money available to flow into the private education sector, because there isn’t enough to support a chain of for-private private schools. Parents who can afford to pay the extra premium for a reputable non-profit school will do so. |
Nobody teaches CRT. But his kids are masked, their school closed because of an outbreak after Thanksgiving and they must be vaccinated. He chose the best education he could find and he is doing the opposite for VA |
Gah---name call much. But I guess your the tolerant one. It is being taught. My child is being taught CRT this year. I have the books and all to prove it. Perhaps you should get out of your bubble because no most people do not think CRT should be taught. Anti racism, definitely. CRT is inherently racist against both whites and blacks. Something tells me you haven't actually read up on CRT. Educate yourself. |
DP. Please provide us with specific examples of how your child is being taught CRT this year. |
Reading How to Be an Antiracist Hardcover by Kendi CRT 101 and this is in middle school not mention the fact that at every turn idea that because you are white you are bad is shoved down their throats. Wish they would do a deep dive on the 1960's civil rights movement and leaders. |
Why are you prattling about "tolerance?" This has nothing to do with tolerance. Did you just say "anti-racism" should be taught but then turn around and say "CRT is inherently racist against both whites and blacks?" No, it isn't. Teaching about systemic racism and how it affects society is not "inherently racist." Look, I realize you were probably raised by well-meaning white parents who taught you to be color blind and now might internalize the lessons of CRT. which causes you cognitive dissonance because you don't think you're a bad person or racist, and this is why you complain it "makes white kids feel bad about their skin color." But you really need to push past that and come to better understand how racist policies of the past still affect things today. That is not "inherently racist." The reason you think it's "inherently racist" is because it makes you uncomfortable because it forces you to do some self-examination about your white privilege (yes, it's a thing). The thing is, if we can embed this stuff in schools (age appropriate), we can eventually get to the post-racist society you seem to think we already exist in (because to it's not racist unless Klan hoods are involved, but you cannot see the more subtle impacts because you literally refuse to look). No one really cares if it makes some white children feel bad about their skin color. That's not the point of it at all, but you carry on like it is. High schoolers are certainly more than capable of discussing this stuff rationally, provided they can push down their defensive reactions to it , stop taking it so personally (it really isn't about you -- no one actually cares about YOU) and open minds. But, no, your fragility is so much that you lose your minds, protest at school board meetings, and cling to this idea that you're a good person who couldn't possibly be racist. Get over yourself, that's not what this is about and the more you do this, the more racist you actually appear. |
We are well past "peace, love and understanding," love. Much of the Civil Rights movement was run by white people. Should we consult the teachings of Malcom X? White people are happy to announce they're "color blind" and think that solves everything and lets them off the hook. Meanwhile, people of color want to be seen for who they are and what they have experienced. Every time you advocate for a "color blind" society, you invalidate those experiences. The very fact that you keep insisting that conversations about race should be on YOUR terms is evidence enough that you should say less and listen more. You're clearly beyond help. There's still hope for your children. We educate children for the benefit of society -- your wishes as a parent are duly noted but ultimately inconsequential. Literally no once cares what you as a parent want -- your opinion really doesn't matter. |
You make a lot of assumptions. Racism is complex. Yes there has been intuitional racism. Guess what, it's been against Jews, Catholics, Asians, and all other non-blacks and non-whites. Yet, CRT only focuses on the black experience and paints ALL whites as inherently racist. This is simply not true and not ok. CRT is being taught to middle schoolers. Not age appropriate. Make no mistake I believe strongly that racism exists in all its blatant and nuanced forms. I also believe that it's time to get over the idea that black people are the only ones who experience racism or that they are incapable of being racist themselves. Yes, we should all examine our biases. Yes racism is very real and evil. But CRT just perpetuates racism and makes it worse. |
And there you go, the only opinion that apparently matters is yours. Unfortunately, you are beyond help. I, on teh other hand, welcome disclosure and a difference of opinion. Just not pure make believe propaganda being shoved down my middle schoolers throat. |
It does no such thing. That's just the inference of deeply fragile white people who cannot get over their cognitive dissonance. See previous post. The problem is that you as a white person are making this conclusion. Your conclusion is inaccurate, flawed, and colored by your emotion and inability to think critically. It threatens you, so this is your reaction. But what you say isn't actually TRUE. Nor is your opinion about this VALID. I have no doubt that "it's time to get over the idea that black people are the only ones who experience racism or that they are incapable of being racist themselves." I have no doubt that you, as a white person, are desperate for that narrative to be accepted universally. Because, again, you're making this all about YOU. You THINK you're a good person and not racist. I believe you're probably a good person, but your inability to separate that from considering the possibility that you benefit from systemic racism is the problem here. Stop internalizing and making it about you. Once you do that, you might be able to drop your defenses and consider the theory a little more objectively. |
^^^ meant to say I have not doubt YOU BELIEVE "it's time to get over the idea that black people are the only ones who experience racism or that they are incapable of being racist themselves" |
