Why do men try to replace their last serious ex with similar women of the same race/background/etc?

I was never successful enough with women to duplicate my previous woman. I was just happy to find another attractive woman who wanted to be with me; finding a duplicate of the previous woman probably wasn't possible.

"I wanted a new woman who looked just like the previous one but who didn't turn into a nagging demanding sex-denying harridan after a few years. But then I learned that all women do that."

My wife is definitely a nag, but she still wants sex 20 years into our marriage. Maybe read a book and learn some better bedroom skills. Hint: if you're having more (real) orgasms than she is, you're going about it all wrong.

Because men have "a type" just like women do? Because men are people, too?

This stereotype does not ring true for my husband. His ex wife was Caucasian, tall, light hair. However, I’m mixed, short, black hair. We are completely opposite in every way.

+1 Obviously.

Before me he had only one girlfriend and she was a different race and very slim. I am not that race and I wasn't very slim when we met. His new gf is much bigger than his ex or me.

They do. The difference is most men don't obsess over it, women like OP make it out to be like their ex is still in love with them that they left some sort of mark. It's been 5 years unless you all were married and had kids you should have no idea who your ex is seeing. I say this with live, op get a life!

As a previous poster pointed out he probably dated someone similar before you too.

Uh no I said we were together 5 yrs not that it was that far since I broke up.

Still doesn't do you any good to track who he is dating and indeed over it.

I'm a woman, I have a type. My current bf looks enough like one of my exes that they could be siblings. However their personalities are extremely different.

He has a type.

One of my friends wives divorced him and he married a woman who looked exactly like her and even had the same first name! When we reconnected it was confusing.

Yup. Op, at this point I don't know if you're sincere or engaging in duck tales, but if you are legit please just let it go. Obsessing over your ex this way just isn't healthy. There are other men. Get on Bumble, Tinder, Match something and find someone else.

No he didn't. She was a different race and background and was anorexic. We broke up not that long ago and I am not made of stone or quick to jump from one person to the next.
