| Schumer said something about her "uterus not contracting for five years" in relation to endometriosis, which contributed to her wanting to get lipo. What does that mean- uterus not contracting for five years, and does that make your stomach retain belly fat or something? |
| It’s not like she chose a waifish look. She looks healthy. |
That's...not how lipo works. You don't roll into the Dr. a size 14 and say, "give me the body of a 13 year old Gwyneth Paltrow." I guess you could, but the max they'll do is 6-8 lbs. |
So what’s the brouhaha? |
THANK YOU |
Maybe because she’s commenting on it? |
I think it's fine if Amy Schumer gets lipo, but "choice" is not feminism. There are plenty of choices that women make that are not feminist, and that's okay! Feminism is about the political, social, and economic equality of women. Lipo's got nothing to do with it. |
| I can really relate to Amy's experience of pregnancy and her postpartum experience--I'm glad she shares her experiences so candidly. I'm happy for her that she actively addressed something that was deeply bothering her on a day-to-day basis and that it has brought her comfort and satisfaction to do so. |
| Good for her. |
+1. I was going through IVF and recurrent pregnancy loss at the same time as Amy. Really appreciate her candidness. If she's decided she needs lipo to reclaim ownership over her body (fertility treatments really steal control over your own body), then I fully support her. Plus MYOB. Nobody's business but their own. |
Oh, please. Cry me a river! No one cares how you feel. They obviously don't. LOL. What are all of you doing to look your best??? |

I think this is a really unfair post and we should not be commenting at all.
B ut I would like to point out that Amy struggled with infertility, had a baby, suffered from endometriosis for YEARS, and ultimately had a hysterectomy. in sum, she had A LOT going on. In particular, read up on undiagnosed aggressive endometriosis. I had no idea, but recently read someplace a story of a woman who had something that sounded similar - the tissue grows all inside your body, causing tremendous pain and severe life altering complications and is horribly misdiagnosed or dismissed. Amy's instagram posts detail much of her specifics (I think it was endometriosis in her appendix?). So, if at the end of all that - years of pain, years of struggle - she decides to have lipos as she's coming out of what sounds like a really tough period? Good for her. |
| Lipo leaves scars. I still have scars 20 year later and now I won't wear anything where my knees are visible. |
| She’s crass and vulgar. |
