How protective are you of your designer handbag?

If you’re terrified to let your kid near it, you can’t really afford it

By these measures, I am very protective of all my bags, even though none of them are over $500. It's just how I live.

Not true. I can afford lots of Chanel bags. Would I let my kids (mine are toddlers) near it? Or a high schooler wear it for date night? Hell no. I also don't let the kids play dress up with my engagement ring or DH's watch collection.

My boss asked for a chair at dinner for her Chanel purse. It was so gross, I judged her hardcore after that (she paid me 30k in DC) but she thought she was being cute by asking for the chair.

Ugh. Asking for a chair for your purse is so pathetic.

OMG that is hilarious! How does one even answer that question without busting out laughing?

My kelly bag came with its own rain coat for inclement weather.

Can you tell when other women are carrying fake Kelly’s or birkins?

My LV has turned into my diaper bag

If I’m in inclement weather, I use an umbrella, leave it hidden in my car. I don’t worry about putting it on a clean spot on the floor of restaurant or wherever. I keep it out of the way of spills.

Don’t leave your purse in your car. Seriously.

I find that my higher end bags are more durable and can take a beating more than my less expensive bags. Some of it is the material, using vegetable tanned leather or goat skin, and some of it is the craftsmanship that goes into it. The stitches are stronger the seams tighter et cetera.

I actually treat my bags normal/on the rough side in the 1st year because there's a warranty and I want to test it out. If there is a problem I just bring it back to the sales associate and get a replacement bag

Exactly. If you actually stressed about protecting a bag that is useless stress. Get a fake and spend your stress on something more productive.

I love handbags and have collected several high end bags over the years - Chanel, Gucci, Dior, Hermes, etc. All of them wear well and I’m not overly precious with any of them. I put them on the floor at restaurants, travel with them, use them in the rain because all of my bags are designer at this point, wear them around my children…no issues. Sure, I may not choose a white Chanel if we’re going to play on the playground for the afternoon or an LV with vachetta if it’s raining, but beyond some basic sensible choices like that, they are mostly all well made leather bags and can survive whatever the day brings just fine. I was definitely more cautious when I bought my first couple of expensive bags, but don’t really think about it anymore and they are no worse for the wear.
