Williams Sonoma closing at Tysons Galleria

I thought it was weird that W-S and Sur la Table are both in the Galleria, rather than one in basic Tysons and one in the Galleria.

I like malls too. Nice to have stores in one location instead of having to drive to one Town Center to go to one store, another town center for another store and yet another town center for a third store.

I kninda of like malls too but not really to do any real shopping. I mostly do that online. I think they should move away from just stores and include more sitting/drink coffee areas, work lounges, more play spaces for kids, maybe even something fun for adults too. forget food courts and make sure to sprinkle in coffee and bakery and other quick eats throughout the corridors. Keep the stores but reduce their size and limit the stock. Make it easy for people to pick up online orders and return items. stores like Tj maxx did very well over the pandemic so other retailers should take a hint. Besides pick/drop off of online orders, make the items in store all discounted items. Malls mgmt should try and lure stores like TJ maxx and marshall’s into malls and move out department stores or seriously reduce their size so both can fit. Offer reduced rents - or even no rent bc god knows the owners of these malls are already making tons of profit- for pop up shops to encourage local business to set up shop so people can shop local . Update store facades to look less like a mall and more like individual stores you would visit like on a main street type thing. If you are old like me and lived in this area a long time places like david’s village shop for women and britches used to have pretty good store front / facades that gave the impression of that.

Malls could have a resurgence but mall mgmt companies and property owners need to try harder.
