Williams Sonoma closing at Tysons Galleria

Anonymous
Anyone know why Williams Sonoma is closing at Tyson’s Galleria?

Probably because they opened at Mosaic.

Link?

Not enough sales, obviously.

Op here. No link. A friend is in the Williams Sonoma store now and sent me some pics. Almost everything in the store is gone.

This. Malls are dead. Mosaic gets so much more foot traffic. W-S' target market isn't going to the mall anymore.

That's literally what everyone here has been telling you, LOL

My guess is, it’s a large store, and the owner of the mall can probably fit two additional merchants (for twice the rent) in the space.

Tysons Galleria is not suffering. I walk there and the lines to a number of stores (Gucci, LV, Canada Goose) are always long. The restaurants are fairly well-attended, too.

Over priced kitchen stuff that you can buy the equivalent product on amazon for a fraction of the cost. Only people who want to say they bought it at Williams Sonoma are concerned about actually purchasing it there.

This is a whole universe I forgot about. I haven’t been to a mall in a decade.

LLBean is closing too. I suppose that store can fit 4 additional merchants?

Yes, I bet it can. A previous post on DCUM mentioned that the workers said LL Bean’s departure was due to a rent dispute.

I like malls, especially in the winter. Sad to see so many struggling.
