That's too bad for you daughter. My child just had a sleepover with a few friends, not because of birthday but just for fun. I hope she understands.

NO - She probably will, as intelligence is genetic and we know her mother is smart, as she avoids unnecessary risk. You, on the other hand ......

NO above was supposed to be New Poster abbreviation, so don't vent on the other mom

I don't think you're being smart - unless you have some kind of high risk in your family. If you don't have high risk - I am guessing you allow your kids to drive in a car and swim - both of which are stastically riskier to them than covid.

OP here, I don't know why anyone felt compelled to troll this thread. My kid had a terrible time during virtual school, not because of a lack of sleepovers and certainly not because of my anxiety. Thanks to those who provided helpful input or general commiseration! Winter birthdays are always hard, especially in a pandemic!

A friend took her kid here -- it's a haul from MoCo, but you could get something at Red Truck Bakery to take back so the fun can continue past the actual day.

Unless your new teenager starts eating everything in sight and the baked goods get eaten on the trip home.
