| Ryan is now a girls name |
| OP here. Does your answer change with last name smith and what comes up on google? |
|
Ok, I was going to say that you need an Irish last name with Ryan. But Smith ups the ante. There are going to be 1000 Ryan Smiths. Of the two, I prefer Henry. (Full disclosure, my mom's maiden name is Ryan and it is still weird to hear it used as a first name.)
What about Hunter? Declan? Quinlan? You have more leeway with Smith than with a more burdensome last name. |

No more Ryans, please!
Henry is a great name. Popular but not overdone. |
I know 6 Henrys under the age of five, and only 1 Ryan. Honestly OP I think with a last name like Smith you should try for something with a little more charm or pizzazz. This is like naming your kid Human Child. |
+1 But if forced to choose I'd go with Ryan. Henry is just too popular in this area. |
+1 |
| I think I know 7 or 8 young Henry’s, and I’m not a person who like knows a lot of people, lol. It’s a nice name but I’m astounded by how popular it seems. I’d do Ryan |
| I have a Henry. There are a LOT of kids named Henry. That doesn’t bother me as my husband and I also have very common, easy to spell, short first names to go with our long, hard to spell last name. |

Roland is kingly but starts with r.
Holden is an 80s name that starts with h. |
| Mom of 5 and 8 year olds here. I don't know a single Ryan. I know 6 Henries. Does that help? |
| Henry. Ryan is blah. |
+1. I love the name, but it has peaked to the point I almost find Ryan "refreshing." |
Where are you from and why would you say this? It was the 9th most popular boy name in 2020. |
I know a Ryan Smith. I vote Henry |
