Is this a sign that I need to switch OBs?

But that's just it -- she doesn't trust the doctor. The doctor also appears to be anti-doula in general, which is a huge warning flag for someone planning a natural birth.

Op here, thanks for all the responses. I found out the details of the incident between the doctor and the doula. I can't post the details because one or the other may recognize themselves here, but in my view the whole thing was trivial and was really about bruised egos. BTW, my husband who usually defers to anyone who wears a white lab coat also agrees that the incident was trivial. I plan to discuss it with the doula (just to cover my bases) and see how she responds.

The doctor's point about "not needing" a doula has some merit -- this is your third baby! Nevertheless, it is not really the doctor's place to say whether or not you should spend the money on one.

Second, whoever said that since this is your third child the doctor would be more inclined to do a c-section -- that's utterly ridiculous! If a woman has a history of no complications, OBs are more than happy to let her go naturally over risking a c-section. Heck, when I delivered my third, hardly anyone (nurses or doctors) came into my room while I was laboring -- I was pretty much left to my own devices!

I used birthcare, so wth do I know, but it seems like none of my ob-going friends ended up delivering with the doctors they liked/wanted/knew. So does it really even matter who your ob is?
