Nope, totally wouldn’t mind that and neither would the boys. |
How old are her kids? When I was 3, I picked our neighbor's name for our cat because I liked it. I certainly wasn't aiming to offend. |
| So he's like Jack and she named it Jill? What a silly thing to worry about. My former step family named their dog after the Grandmother, while she was still alive. |
| Your New Years resolution should be to grow the hell up! |
|
My nephews named one of their gerbils after me. It died after about two months, which they attributed to its obesity.
"Yeah, we used to have two gerbils, but Larla died. She was really, really fat." Fun story to hear over and over and over again.

My kid would be so thrilled. He would think this is a great honor. |
| So you gave your kid a name that is common for dogs? Well that was your mistake lol |
| Oh get over yourself. |
| People love their dogs, so they give the dogs names they really like. What’s insulting about that? |
| Your son should feel honored! |
| I grew up on a farm. Every spring my parents would get a pair of calves to raise and then slaughter a year later. The calves were always named Grace and Laurence or Martha and Ted. Those were my grandparents’ names and none of my grandparents were pleased by this. |
| Your sibling rivalry must have been hell on your parents. |
So, it's not like she named it as an affront to you. Her kids did, it's cute. Let it go. |
| This is adorable! I would think it’s darling if my nieces named their pet after my son, their beloved cousin. |

I agree it’s irritating mainly because when people talk about the child/dog, it will be confusing. We had this happen in my family but the dog was a rescue and they didn’t want to confuse it by changing its name. Irritating. But not a huge deal. They probably named it after a character or star they liked? Like your kid is Herman and they named dog Hermione after H Granger? Or your son is Nick and they named it Nikki after Ménage?
Sufficient to gripe about it on dcum but not sufficient to gripe to sister. |
