How to stop coughing

Anonymous
The prescription cough meds with codeine or hydrocodone were the only thing that worked for my cough. Tessalon pearls was my first script but didn't relieve enough for sleep. I only took the heavy duty stuff at night to be able and sleep for longer stretches.

vaporizer in the room, full blast. Also, drink honey in hot water and try adding lemon too.

Ask for an rx for Tussionex pills. They stop the urge to cough. I can’t get through a bought of bronchitis without them.

I think they’re the same as Tusselon pearls mentioned earlier.

Tessalon pearls are a miracle for a bad cough. Of course I personally don’t know if they are contraindicated for COVID for any reason but can’t hurt to ask doctor! Hope your son feels better soon.

Opioids suppress cough. Thanks ne of the most effective cough suppressants is prescription cough syrup that contains codeine.

I would only go this route for a generally healthy adult on the younger side with no addiction issues, and only once to get a good nights sleep. And also only if you know what kind of illness you’re dealing with — like is this a lingering post illness cough or a new illness that is still unfolding. I once took a Percocet left over from a c section to help with coughing fits at night after getting over a virus, and it helped me get the sleep I need.

I know enough pharmacology and how my body reacts to opioids to feel comfortable doing this on a one time basis. YMMV.

It’s for a teen, but please don’t recommend this for anyone. Yikes.

Oh please not all of us are fiends. I hate opioids but took for C-sections and think this is a reasonable idea.

Delsym or RX cough suppressant. The liquids work better than pills, ime. I hate the liquids, but they work.

The prescription cough medicine with codeine is what finally gave me a break from my Covid cough. I was also using inhalers and the cough pearl drops, but they weren’t helping to slow the cough down at all. Talking made the coughing worse (still brings it on and I’m now almost 3 weeks post positive PCR).

Codeine

Can teens do codine? Call the doc and ask. That stuff stops coughs in their tracks.

Is the cough coming from his chest or throat? Since the cough meds aren't working, it could be a reactive cough from the throat. Warm salt water gargles, lozenges and popsicles may help and can't hurt.

Z pack + prescription cough syrup of the codone variety.
