FCPS wasted no time rescinding the no mask for the vaccinated within minutes

What are you talking about?

Is sometime talking about increasing quarantines?

How many times have you been notified of a close contact? Just curious. We haven’t had any but our DS is in ES and the school itself hasn’t had many cases.

DP but my 12 and 15 year old have been close contacts. Vaccinated early September. Returned right away both times. So under new guidelines they’d have to quarantine for 5 days because they don’t have booster. No thanks.

With the new variant, those two vaccines aren’t going to protect them much from infection, so it makes sense.

The booster isn’t stopping transmission either. Look at the health forum, most people sick with it have had booster.

Does this even apply to schools. They already recommended test to stay for schools.

I agree. We can’t possible be back to quarantining vaccinated 7-10th graders. CDC needs to clarify an exception for schools. They also recommend test and stay for school which is contrary to this recommendation. And most drs aren’t recommending the booster for healthy males 16-18.

Source? Why are drs not recommending boosters for males 16/18? That doesn’t make sense. As we have seen in the last 10-15 days, the omicron variant is hitting high schoolers hard.

Most people are barely sick.

The booster has prevented the majority of people from being hospitalized. Most the people I know who have had COVID in the past few weeks have had symptoms similar to a mild flu or cold. So you can get sick and pass it on but the length on time you are contagious is shorter and the severity is less. So people with the booster will get more sick but it is a smaller percentage.

The unvaccinated are not as lucky.

Very true for unvaccinated. But this is the difference in quarantine for vaccinated kids who can’t have the booster yet. Not really fair to them. Or anyone who “did their part” and got vaccinated but not comfortable with booster.

Plenty of unvaccinated kids or non boostered teens are experiencing very minor symptoms.

Do we they the FFX health department and schools will update their policies by Monday? They just sent out new letters for sports that detail the 8,11,14 day return and it’s changing again.

FCPS and FCHD think they are smarter than the CDC so they make their own guidelines

Arlington said this morning they are emailing updated guidance.

Your move, Boyd, Brabrand, and FCHD.

I don’t know why people are saying this. The CDC clearly says new quarantine guidance applies to people who are more than six months out from their vaccine and have not been boosted. Your kids are not more than six months out. So this does not apply to you currently.
