FCPS response to new CDC guidelines

Will they update isolation? Will the no quarantine with a mask end test-to-stay? Will it help keep school open?

Oh, I see it’s shorter quarantines for unvaccinated or unboostered. So still test to stay.

Do kids 15 and under with 2 shots within the last 6 months still get to skip quarantine?

I’m a teacher and posted the other day this was obviously what would happen. They can’t have it be 10 days when so many of us will get it so shortening quarantine is their only option (by they I mean not just schools but hospitals, every other employer). The CDC knows we are all getting it at some point but the country can’t sustain all its workforce out. If was clear last week this was going to be the move. And yes I believe all districts will adapt to comply. Probably no quarantine at all if asymptomatic.

This is great timing. Youngkin needs to run with this. No masks in school, unless you are a recent close contact. It’s unreasonable to stay home so slap a mask on for 5 days!

I certainly hope so. I’m going to be pissed if my two fully vaccinated kids as of two weeks ago need to start quarantining again.

It doesn’t say so anywhere in there docs. VDH does list that in their guidance.

There is no way they will make vaccinated students quarantine. They are not going to do anything to increase quarantines. If my vaccinated kids had to quarantine with every exposure they would be at home more than in school.

How many times have you been notified of a close contact? Just curious. We haven’t had any but our DS is in ES and the school itself hasn’t had many cases.

With the new variant, those two vaccines aren’t going to protect them much from infection, so it makes sense.

Oh, ok. I didn't realize that. I was thinking of the news that they are recommending a reduction from 10 to 5 days for asymptomatic positives.

FCPS wasted no time rescinding the no mask for the vaccinated within minutes
