If you liked the cutting edge, did you also like Mannequin?

Yes, but some of them stick more than others. The Cutting Edge is just a sticker.

Loved overboard! Cutting edge and mannequin-watched them frequently growing up and also Hairspray, original version with Rikki Lake. Big business too. Strange movies for a third/4th grader at the time!

Yes and yes!!

Hi no. The sleepover double feature options were the Cutting Edge with Pretty Woman OR Dirty Dancing.

Cutting Edge is just average. Mannequin, however, is a classic. Hollywood! Roxie! You’re fired!

I was so excited to see Mannequin 2 in the theater when it came out …

My kids loved:

Planes, trains and automobiles
My cousin Vinny

Dirty rotten scoundrels
Heartbreakers
Cutting edge

Etc.

Lots of choices that i loved and they do, too.

Maybe? But I also think the flavor of some things is just incredibly dated. I never saw Mannequin so I’m not talking about it, but some movies needed to be seen in the time that they were made. Conversely, some needed time to be appreciated (and then they become cult classics!).

Anonymous wrote:Yes, though I continue to watch Cutting Edge but haven't seen Mannequin in a while. I don't remember it as well, but I think the gender politics of Mannequin haven't held up as well as those in Cutting Edge. I'd say the same about Overboard, but I also never liked it as much to begin with. Innerspace is another movie I used to like around that time...haven't watched it recently but was thinking I probably should rewatch.

Very different, but Baby Boom is still amazing.

Oh yes, Baby Boom is another excellent one! I could watch that any day. I think about it every time I buy a "gourmet" jam or what have you at some terribly overpriced tourist shop, LOL.

I watched Baby Boom so many times over the years

+1
I always think of that beautiful baby, Elizabeth.

This! I wasn't allowed to watch Pretty Woman or Dirty Dancing at home so those were always my choices at friends' houses.

Overboard has held up much better than Mannequin, IMO.
