If you liked the cutting edge, did you also like Mannequin?

I loved that movie.

Yes! Mannequin is great, so hilarious, and great music. Late 80s/early 90s movies were the best. I also love Overboard.

No, I definitely saw it once and never watched it again, whereas I have watched The Cutting Edge a gazillion times.

Yes, this was one of my favorites!

Of course!

Has either film held up over time?

I forgot Overboard, I watched that one a ton too!

Yes, though I continue to watch Cutting Edge but haven't seen Mannequin in a while. I don't remember it as well, but I think the gender politics of Mannequin haven't held up as well as those in Cutting Edge. I'd say the same about Overboard, but I also never liked it as much to begin with. Innerspace is another movie I used to like around that time...haven't watched it recently but was thinking I probably should rewatch.

Very different, but Baby Boom is still amazing.

Mannequin and Short Circuit were a frequent double feature at sleepovers ... haven't seen either in years but remember both fondly.

Oh yes, Baby Boom is another excellent one! I could watch that any day. I think about it every time I buy a "gourmet" jam or what have you at some terribly overpriced tourist shop, LOL.

I found Short Circuit on one of those throwback channels several years back and watched with my daughter. she thought it was very funny.

Question: do we love these movies because we first saw them at movie theaters with our BFFs when we were tweens and still optimists? I love all of these movies, and so do my peers and siblings—but my kids don’t. There are very few films from my generation that my tweens/teens like as much as I did/still do.
