Does a team have to qualify to participate in this event

Not for the regional, win at regional and you qualify for nationals though. so big clubs that want to go to nationals only send 1 team and they play in true age group

Where is the national, seems like a lot of travel

Kansas City, in July. It used to be in Feb but that changed this year with Covid.

Kansas city or a nice vacation

Looking at the results from the previous year's tournament, futsalRVA didn't seem to do too much on the boys side.

FutsalRVA is the reason that futsal is even a sport in Virginia today, I know they have been suffering because Kickers and Strikers have their own futsal programs in the last 2 years, but make no mistake without them there is no futsal in Virginia.

True, I don’t think anyone said otherwise though

Agree, but it’s not at the level of the Futsal only/year round clubs. I often think they should split.

My son's team is scheduled to compete in Richmond, but I hope that the event is postponed. My son is vaccinated, as are we all, but we have a high-risk grandparent that lives with us. We were fine with the risk pre-Omicron, but not with the way things are going currently.

Of course, we can and will hold DS out if the event goes forward, but it seems to make sense to postpone it, as we cannot be the only one in this situation.

Omicron blew through our fully vaccinated Xmas Eve family dinner. The two that never got it were the vax and boosted 76 & 79 year old grandparents. The 79-year old is/was immune compromised with cancer.

I say that to give you some peace.

Any update on when schedules will be posted?

Futsal ... yes, I seem to recall that sport ... my son used to play it many, er, weeks ago before everything stopped for Christmas, then snow ...

We are planning to attend the Richmond tournament next week; I just hope the boys get a chance to practice at least once before the tournament starts!

They are saying "before Monday", which means Tuesday or Wednesday. After all, we don't need to know when to travel. Just take our whole weekend.

Wait wait… because YOU are hyper sensitive to Covid based on YOUR unique living situation, you hope the event is postponed for hundreds of other kids? Ain’t that some selfish sh*t…. Keep your son and the rest of your family locked in the bunker and encase them all with bubble wrap, but don’t you dare apply your selfish whims on others who realize the risks to kids (let alone vaccinated and/or masked kids) is very low and want to play.
