...hmmm...no. I'm as liberal you get and I would probably hold my nose and send my DS to Rice if he had even a prayer of getting in. It looks like an absolutely phenomenal school. I wouldn't do that for other Texas schools -- too many good places elsewhere.

The Ohio and PA LACs are taking the first hit but eventually may spread to the NE ones, too. It also shows in rising popularity of colleges like Northeastern, Temple, College of Charleston, etc.

Which PA and Ohio colleges are taking the first hit? I guess this reflects the metro boom along the coasts while the population may have been more distributed in rural as well as metro areas in the 1980s. Damn that Insta!

100%
It’s not popular with kids that live near Chicago

Ithaca —They’ve made major faculty and budget cuts (in the comm school too!)

Because no one can get in from around here. It's super tough. They are known for not "liking" DC kids, at least DC proper.

Their admissions stats indicate otherwise.

William and Mary - too expensive, no great careers come out of W&M

Georgetown
- needs to take all that tuition money and clean the place up. toured over the summer - total trash dump with crumbling, ghetto infrastructure

I think posters are confusing two things. The OP asked for schools that haven’t seen a burst in applications (out of fashion), but some posters have interpreted “out of fashion” as any school where DMV students have less interest. Both interpretations are interesting.

The William and Mary poster is crazy. Jon Stewart and Jen Psaki have had pretty great careers. I know someone who’s a CEO now who went there undergrad.

+1 Curious as well as we’re not seeing that. Any data you can point to?
