Why?

Presumably due to ignoring or burying years of reported improprieties.

Is that fact or speculation? If you are not on the Board are associated with Whitman crew how would you know what they ignored?

Did you read any of the news articles where kids reported it?

Please point me to an article which says that kids reported sexual assault to the Board and they decided to ignore those reports.

You can look it up in the archives of the WapO. It was discussed extensively on DCUM.

The board is all volunteer. If I were on the board, I'd just resign. The whole thing is too much hassle given the salary.

So you have no direct evidence? Just vague recollection of hearsay based on vague and non-specific knowledge of a newspaper article that you think exists? Got it. Thanks.

Do some research. There has been extensive reporting and data on reports to the board of education. Got it?

https://www.washingtonpost.com/education/2021/11/30/kirk-shipley-sex-abuse-whitman-coach-rowing/

"This wasn’t the first time Shipley, who declined an interview request through his attorney, had been the target of a complaint about the way he operated. He’d been investigated in 2018 after being accused that spring of creating a toxic culture — a claim he denied, arguing in an email to the complaining parent that it was just “the competitive nature of the Women’s program at Whitman.”

A human resources consultant hired by the parent board said in a report that she found “quite a lot of bitterness” over Shipley’s perceived favoritism toward “his chosen rowers” and described a “potentially polarizing, unapologetic style” of coaching. But she didn’t recommend any drastic changes to the program."

From the WaPo article linked above:

And nothing happened to Shipley, even as rumors were swirling that the coach had begun a sexual relationship with a girl on the team, inviting her to coffee after finals, then to his home in Georgetown.

The girl told friends that she and Shipley had “hooked up after graduation” — which the parent who’d lodged the toxic culture complaint reported to the human resources consultant, the team’s board, both Whitman’s outgoing and incoming principals, the school system, Montgomery County child welfare authorities and USRowing. All acknowledged to her that they’d received the information, but the complaint seemed to go nowhere.

The accusation in the article was “toxic culture” not sexual assault and it was investigated.

There is nothing reported that the reported relationship above, which is acknowledged to occur after graduation, was illegal or non-consensual.

I applaud you for going through the effort to prove your claims about the Board and yet your evidence doesn’t do that. In fact, everything that you have claimed about the Board is untrue.

This isn't directly related, but a coach at Northwood HS who was put on leave was just arrested at Dulles by Customs for felony child sexual assault.

Hi Coach Shipley!

The troll trying to do damage control here is losing badly.

The board knew. They chose not to do anything about it.

It is as much a parent failure as it is a school failure.

I can assure you that I am no troll. I just have high standards for truth and it is disappoint to me to see anonymous people online slander people over such serious matters. It demeans sexual assault and his victims to try to weaponize it against people you don’t know.

An adult man dating a woman whose age ends in “-teen” is about as creepy, gross and predatory as it gets. However it’s not illegal and as far as I have seen, it did not contravene any established ethical rules at the time.

All over allegations made were properly followed up and investigated.

These are the facts.
