Exactly. That’s my question - who in their right mind would pay hundreds of dollars for their teen to see Olivia Rodrigo? The ticket resellers obviously think they can get that price but who is paying $400 for crappy tickets that originally sold for $50 just for Olivia Rodrigo? |
|
I tried to get these tickets..I was in queue for 30 minutes and then gave up, only to try later and they were $700. Please. I was secretly glad 😆
|
| I paid $830 per ticket, bought 2. Pretty outrageous |
Wow uou are a loser |
| Just goes to show that it’s brutal out here. |
Nope. Just someone who wants to make a tween’s dream come true. Or maybe their own, you never know! My DD loves Olivia and we can’t afford the tickets but if we could, I would get them. It’s a memory and an experience. |
Please tell us about yourself! Seriously! What is your household income that you would spend $1600 for two tix to this concert? Are you a big spender in other areas of your life? Did you have a max you would have spent or you would have spent anything? Do you think it’s going to be worth it? |
|
There’s a ton of pent up demand for concerts and events right now since everything was cancelled for a year and a half. It SUCKS!!! Some venues aren’t running at full capacity so there’s fewer tickets available. And the live events industry is notoriously opaque and corrupt when it comes to ticket prices and availability. It’s a perfect storm of ticket prices skyrocketing. I think you would have been able to see Olivia Rodrigo for like $200 a ticket in 2019 if she had been touring then but that is not the case now.
I’m hoping prices start to go down in 2022 because I desperately miss live music but I can’t spend $800 on regular tickets. |

That is insane
I am so curious who these people are that are willing to pay that much per ticket. I can barely think of anything I would spend that much on willingly |

So watch Ticketmaster even up to a few hours before her concert, returned tickets will probably pop up. Scalpers start to dump them on other sites too the closer the concert gets as they try to recoup their money. Best to use Ticketmaster for reserved seats as they can not be scalped at the Anthem.
I wanted to go to bob Dylan at the Anthem last week and it was a sold out show. I looked every day and sure enough, many tix became available (at regular prices) |

So Rodrigo is playing locally at the Anthem one night only vs playing at the Cap One Arena (and I think she could fill it). You had to be a "verified fan", and I was one with a code, but I couldn't get through and then the Ticketmaster website crashed (as well as the app for me). TM put out a statement on their twitter page and Rodrigo put out a statement as well (that she's sorry her tour is sold out). It was crazy.
The Anthem should add another night (which they've done for artists before). I am surprised she's playing there. You can only get reserved seats there in the boxes, the overwhelming majority is general admission. So those seats, which I believe were selling face value of around $60, have gone up to $1000 on the resell market. And in the past the Anthem has been pretty strict about resell tickets (I remember they had their own system with Lizzo and Billie Ellish, no Stubhub). I have also had major issues this year with Stubhub on sports tickets, and I have been buying from them for years. You can do a google search for this but I buy tickets and parking passes for an event, then I get notified the tickets are ready in my account, I go to the website or the app to view my tickets and get an error message. Most tickets these days are electronic/mobile, so if you can't upload the tickets you're screwed. People have complained that they show up to enter the event and they get the error message and can't get their tickets and can't get in, I haven't even been able to view my tickets at all. I have had to call their customer service several times, and finally a rep sent me an email with a PDF of the mobile tickets. Seriously, do a google search on this, it's all over Reddit and other forums of this issue. And I write about this because I am scared now to buy resale Olivia Rodrigo tickets and have this happen. It's a huge headache. |

How can Anthem boxed seats be scalped when you have to pick up your tix at the box office or at the super excellent entrance and ID must match?
I |
PP here, $930 HHI, and no, I've never spent this on a single event and don't see myself ever doing it again. DD has had a very tough year and she loves this singer. I'm anticipating that this will be something she'll always remember. |
Thank you! |
I do not understand how everyone thinks this is outrageous and how it continues. What is it that makes it so hard to verify buyers are people? I feel like I've had to verify my identity for much much less. |
