She is transitioning from Green ball to Yellow and has only played in a few yellow ball tournaments. in the process of registering her for UTR.

Ok. Must have been someone else who said she was 12 and an 8 UTR.

I would recommend finding a place convenient to where you live and then taking it from there. Find something affordable enough that you can also do a private lesson a week. If you really want to get good, it's all about the private lessons versus high-level clinics.

(Also you don't register for UTR; your UTR is calculated using your existing USTA match results).

No. There is no comparison with the serious places, such as JTCC and OSSA.

Tennis Central has incredibly terrible record-keeping abilities. Not sure if it’s greed or just disorganization. DD has done private lessons for the past year and they are always claiming that she is out of lessons and we need to buy a new pack of 10. I’ll get an email even when she has 6-7 lessons left. They also double-charged my credit card twice. It’s infuriating.

DD has a good relationship with the coach, but we will change to a place that is run more smoothly.

That’s too bad. My kids have been doing private all through covid and a mix of lessons for years before that. We’ve never had a billing issue.

Tennis Central charges significantly more than their competitors. SIGNIFICANTLY. What you pay for 1 lesson per week there will get you 3 lessons per week at JTCC or 4Star. On top of the fixed cost, they now charge 3% on using credit cards. There are inflexible with moving lessons around. They don't give any refund and won't allow you to use the purchased lessons during a different season if your child can no longer make it to this one. At this point, they are really a money making business working with hundreds of younger players, which they get from their summer camps. Good at marketing but the organization and coaches are not committed to the growth of any particular player. They are never seen in any tournaments unlike other coaches from major tennis academies.

It is a good place for starter players. Their coaches are good but one would need to take privates with them to get better. As players get better, they move on to other academies.

Another place to consider is the Montgomery Tennisplex.

Like someone mentioned above, find someplace close to where you live. In you are living in Germantown or upper MoCo, you would probably want to start with the program offerings at Tennisplex before you make the trek to JTCC.

same question here. JTCC seems a bit far consider if we need to commit 4 times a week. Got a girl 10 yr old transitioning from green dot to yellow.
