TTC only on the weekends?!

I used the First Response OPKs and they seemed to work just fine (got pregnant with #2 using them). I agree with the PPs, though, who suggest using a store brand. Much cheaper and they're just as reliable. Good luck!

I would recommend the machine clearblue easy fertility monitor, it's about 200 but you can usually find one on craigslist.

OP, yes I empathize completely. So tired during the week! We don't worry too much about frequency except for week leading up to expected ovulation, as well as once or twice after. Recent tip from my acupuncturist - once opk shows lh surge, keep testing with opk until color fades. During this process, keep up with bd through color fade, and then one time after that. By then I'm sure a break is warranted! ?

PP, great tip. I'll definitely incorporate it into our TTC efforts.

OP here. Thanks, ladies, for all your advice, tips, and encouragment! Here's to it being the weekend again!

Good luck, OP! And rest assured you are not the only one! We tried Friday & Sunday last weekend and were scheduled to have sex Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday as well and flaked out all 3 nights because we were soooo exhausted (we already have 2 kids).

Just wanted to comment that this does not work for everyone. I used OPKs this past cycle (and am now 6 wks pg, after 14 months of TTC - yay!), but thank goodness I was also charting my BBT. Using First Response (pink box that comes with 7 tests) I got a + OPK on day 14, and then on days 15, 16, 17, 18, 19. I gave up on day 20 and didn't test.

There is NO way Dh and I have the time or endurance to BD for 7 consecutive days! Thankfully, my temps showed I ovulated on day 16 so I knew it was ok to stop, despite the continued positive OPKs. Also, the directions on the package say you can stop testing after the first positive result. For some women, it's possible to start to surge, not ovulate, and surge again later and then ovulate, so if you can, it's good to chart temps in conjunction with OPKs. If you have a pretty reliable cycle, though, you can probably trust the first positive OPK as indicating your LH surge.

I know temp charting sounds like a total pain but it's not a big deal once you get used to it. I have been doing it on and off for 8 years and it really gives you a lot of info about your cycle.

Good luck, OP!

I also had no luck with OPKs (never actually were positive for me). We're also usually weekend afternoon (during naptime!) BDers, but when we're TTC we just have sex every other day during my fertile period (which I know b/c I chart). We just motivate to do it b/c we want another kid! This method has worked twice for us.
