Infertility Support and Discussion
| Just want to know if any of you are finding yourselves in the same situation. My hubby and I are just dog tired, on the hamster wheel, making it through Monday through Friday (we both have high stress, demanding jobs). We only seem to be able to muster the energy for babymaking on the weekends. Any one else in the same boat? Any tips on how to get busy more often during the week? |
| Morning. |
| Use ovulation predictor kit and that way you know when you need to muster up the energy! Then - gpo hpme early, have a glass of wine and try and set the mood. |
| We felt the same way you do for months until I discovered a natural supplement called Maca (read about it here: http://herbalmedicinezone.com/1-3760931-B001O1XWGS-Organic_Maca_800mg_100_Tablets.html). It works well for both me and my husband. To illustrate how well it works, my husband came home late last night (11 pm) after a day at the conference and then a long flight. Both of us got quickly in the mood and we did although it was way too early for TTC. I also have a very high-stress job, but I feel like my libido is much higher now. Even if I am dead tired at night, I still want to have sex. Good luck! |
| Agree with PP - use OPKs... sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do, even if you can't get the romance levels up. |
|
OPKs - where do you get them? what are some reliable brands?
Re: the Maca -- what's in that stuff? i mean, can it be harmful? |
| I know this doesn't sound romantic at all but you kind of have to treat it like any other "habit" you are trying to incorporate into your life -- like working out. You have to remind yourself what you are working for and dig deep and find the energy. For instance, the other night I had been making dinner and cleaning the house since I got home from work. My husband had been doing our taxes. I hadn't sat down for even a second since I got home and I was so looking forward to sitting down and watching one of my "programs" I had dvr'd. I told him that was where I'd be -- on the couch. He said, well I'll be asleep by the time you get through watching your show. So we kind of looked at each other in this mexican standoff for a few minutes because we knew it was the time to BD and we both were tired. But, we both sucked it up. He left his taxes, I gave up on my show. He poured us a glass of wine and we met in the living room. We chatted a bit, sipped our wine and then eventually got in the mood. It takes a LOT of effort I know. But. . . just like getting on that treadmill. You have to make yourself do it and once you're in motion you're good to go. |
| Re: Maca. Maca Extract (Lepidium meyenii) comes from a hearty root that grows in the high Andes mountains of South America. |
| ....if you do get pregnant and have a baby, then you will need to make some adjustments to your high-stress, demanding jobs -- might as well start now and see whether that's possible for you. |
|
Not to be snarky, but some of us HAVE to work high-stress, demanding jobs BEFORE and DURING pregnancy so we have the luxury of not working to focus on childrearing once the baby arrives. Just my 2 cents. |

OPKs - I used to spend a lot of $$ on the clearblue easy ones. Now, I just buy cvs. Way back when I conceived DD in 2004, I used CVS, and it seemed to work just fine.
I'd be interested in the MACA root. Hmmm. |
That's not a have to, it's a choice. |
|
OP here. I'm sorry to see this has turned into a sour thread. But I do appreciate the suggestions re: OPKs, etc. THANKS! Stay positive, y'all!

Mornings are good for us, too!

| I use the cvs opks too (20 strip pack for $19). Totally cheap (comparatively speaking) and definitely on target. |
