This is still a big problem for Silver Spring. What age groups are you looking for? |
|
2017 boys (so still have time) and 2013 girls. Easier to find boys teams but girls team are sparse.
What have folks heard of MSI Travel? |
| What age group Boys girls are you looking for? |
| My kid did MSI travel, and overall, it was pretty well run and seems to be headed in a good direction. That said, it's very dependent on the group of kids and the coach they're assigned. Skill level all over the place for kids and coaches, so luck plays a big part. It's a great deal, and can be a great experience, but definitely worth watching a practice and game, if possible, to get a sense of the individual team first. |
| A lot of the Silver Spring kids play in PPA but their practices aren't close to Silver Spring. It's an issue. |
| But is your son even good enough to join any of these teams? Think about that before you turn your nose and say these teams are too far and not worth your time to travel. |
| DCXI Project has a 2013 girls team and a 2017 boys team. They practice close to the Silver Spring border at Riggs Park in the Spring and Fall. Great coaches and community! My son runs out for practice each time he's so excited. He's gotten much better over the years, and loves the game even more. |
| Elite Vision has classic teams and I think some travel teams. They practice around silver spring / 4 corners. |
It’s not a requirement lol…it’s just that people seem uncomfortable to throw their kids in with an all Hispanic team. If I lived in silver spring that’s exactly the type of team I would put my son in cause I love the way they play and the intensity |
| Aspen Hill |
| DC XI is a great option for those in Silver Spring. 2013/2014 games are at Shepherd Park just below Silver Spring and practices are typically at Riggs Lasalle or Takoma (DC) which are easily accessible toward the top of DC. |
| Is Bethesda really that far away? |
| Dirty secret .. Potomac and Bethesda teams both practice in Silver Spring. Not all teams, but many. |
| I'm the OP that started this thread, I see it was resurrected. My son joined the Bobcats and it was a great experience. I highly recommend it for others in the same situation. They mostly practice at MLK or Fairland. |
