Too bad. This was my experience with some of there other stores and like you I was really annoyed I wasted my time stopping in when they just told me to go online. They weren't nice about it either but snobby like I was so stupid I wouldn't have thought of that myself.

It is quite small for a furniture store, although I haven't been to the DC one so don't know how it compares. 2 couches, some chairs, a couple of wood pieces, and lots of side tables, pillows, accessories. A wall of fabric and a big fabric sample case, so that's handy. A back corner with some of their outdoor items.

That really sounds not worth the trip, when the 14th St. store is 4 storeys with a huge selection. Thanks for scouting for us, PP!

I like to spontaneously browse!

I really hate the S&L policy. I've been twice and it's annoying to have to schedule several days in advance to go to a store. They had an "open house" on Saturday, like it was a big deal to open the doors to customers. I really hope Room and Board doesn't do that - in fact I was planning to go tomorrow because I have to be in Bethesda for something else.

I peeked in the windows last week and it looked fairly small. It's next door to Anthropology.

It and anthro should trade spaces!!!

That’s what I was imaging, they have this style of store in other markets. Or maybe it’s the direction they’re going for all new locations. Not as much fun, sitting in furniture and seeing dimensions in person is helpful. Throw pillows I could order online and return, don’t need a store for impulse buys.

If it's tiny, why bother? The 14th street store is amazing even though it's out of the way.

Maybe for people who live close to the Bethesda store, which is the topic of the thread?
