Pre-K teacher here. Agree on no mugs, perfume, lotion. I love flowers, but I know many others don't. And I'm picky about flowers... no sad carnations. So maybe stay away from flowers. I actually make good money for the ECE field (60k), so accepting cash feels crass. A Target gift card would be great, and I'd most likely use it on supplies for my class anyway. That and a heartfelt note would be great.

Most families gift us a gift card and many also add something else along ie: chocolates, cookies, special bath gels. Gift cards range from $25-$100 per family. I love the gift cards (or cash) and I always save them for something I wouldn't buy otherwise.

So to answer your questions cash or gift card, and consumables... I don't need more clutter in my house. Please no mugs or pens etc
