Mommy Mafia

I also don't think any of this is new, I just think there are more outlets for it - more media interest, blogs, listserves, etc. And the increased opportunity for anonymity makes it easier to be more direct in one's cattiness. I don't think it has anything to do with changing in roles and choices. Our mothers and grandmothers did this same sore of thing, only the subjects may have been different - weight, number of children (too many, not enough), husband's income, etc.

I also think advertisers know moms are a big market and they communicate/network. Look what happens every time Washington Post does an article on moms. It usually gets posted, and discussed, and they can count on several hundred readers clicking on the article, and that drives ad sales...etc.

So there are more articles, more magazines devoted to moms, etc.

Could it be that people are more competitive, catty, insecure, deflecting, call-it-what-you-will these days? Perhaps?

Hmmm. Thank goodness that never happens on DCUM.

This is not an article. It's badly written opinion. Anyone who introduces a paragraph with "Here's the thing" is a terrible writer.
