| Our pediatrician used to tell us to give the kids milk to add calories, now told us to stop giving our kids milk. |
Milk has a lot more calories than many people realize. Ounce for ounce, skim milk has about the same calories as regular milk. That's just a calorie comparison. Obviously there are other differences (some typically desirable, such as milk having protein, and some typically less so, such as milk being much more likely to block the absorption of iron and lead to anemia at high consumption). But calorie-wise alone, quite equivalent. |

"skim milk has about the same calories as regular COKE" |
But with calcium and protein and other desirable ingredients. It is the empty calories in Coke that make it a poor food choice. |
Almond and cashew milk prices should be exorbitant. They are probably worse for the environment than cow’s milk. I think oat milk is supposed to be the best. I get oat milk creamer, but otherwise we do have cow’s milk at home for the kids. We are using less and less, though. Now, if we could just get off cheese. |
Uh where do you get your info? Skim milk is 90 cals per cup, whole is 150. Skim milk is pointless, IMO. |
| My neighbor switching to hemp milk doesn't mean I'm not bothered by rising dairy milk prices. |
| Because my husband and kids still drink a lot. |

“Everyone”? Who’s “everyone”?
Why do you take random news reports as gospel, OP? You know what the purpose of the news is, don’t you? Do you lack critical thinking skills of your own? |
My post was sarcastic. But, I do only use oat milk. I am pp that asked about a dairy allergy. |

Btw as america browns, milk consumption will keep falling.
Lactose intolerance is a lot higher with minorities. |
But cheese and yogurt consumption is still strong, and you need milk to make those. |
The way Americans put cheese on everything is disgusting. Hopefully rising milk prices will mean less cheese everywhere. |
| A gallon of organic milk at Giant is nearly $9 now. I'll still buy it for my kids but the price has certainly jumped up quite a bit! |
It’s $6.19 at WF. |
