Ketchup on eggs

Anonymous
I’m from the UK.

In England it is pretty common to put ketchup on a ‘full English breakfast’ which includes fried eggs.

So while it is definitely not to my taste, it does not seem particularly strange.

I like it. I like my eggs on any form of bread with some cheese and a little ketchup. It's a sandwich so I feel like it needs some kind of condiment to bring it all together.

Only in a sandwich

I thought it was brown sauce that was common in the UK. I saw it everywhere, and saw people put it on all kinds of things.

Yeah, brown sauce is also very common. I am from Scotland where brown sauce is more popular than ketchup.

I like it, especially when I have hash browns as well. The sweet acidity balances the salty fatty richness. It’s good.

I've never seen anyone bat an eye at hashbrowns with ketchup and a side of eggs on a breakfast plate.

I'm not a huge egg fan, but on scrambled eggs I'll definitely put ketchup or salsa if available and I'm eating them.

I grew up with a mom who wasn't a great cook and used very little seasoning. We used ketchup on everything, basically to give it taste or hide the blah. Think frozen peas that had been boiled on the stove. That was so nasty, but with enough ketchup you could swallow them whole. Baked chicken was just that, chicken. No salt or pepper, certainly no other herbs or spices. Smother that thing in ketchup to give it some taste!

I like ketchup. I like eggs. I don't like them together. It's the same as pizza dipped in ranch dressing....gross. But no judgement, you do you.

ketchup plus tobasco

I like fried tomatoes with my eggs. Not green, just red- fresh or tinned. Ketchup is way too sweet and vinegary.
