Is MCPS open on Nov 4?

Because Diwali is on Thursday. They wouldn’t close for Christmas on Dec 26.

For example, it is truly a shame that MCPS did not schedule their Professional Day the following week on November 11th (Veteran's Day).

It's disrespectful to all Veterans.

Who makes these decisions? Is there a way to change this?

MCPS has a large number of teachers who are veterans. DH was one (he resigned last year). He did not mind teaching on Veterans Day. I think he would have been less excited about entering grades that day.

I didn't realize we were closing for Diwali. I'm OK with it.

It's so annoying that Mcps is obsessed with equity but never wants to acknowledge religious holidays when they're closed for religious holidays so then you have to start playing guessing games

The state requires all public schools in Maryland to be closed from Dec. 24-Jan. 1.
