I'm intrigued because my 4th grader doesn't like the I Survived so I donated our set to his class library. His teacher said the kids LOVE I Survived (except mine apparently).

However, he LOVES Roald Dahl and as of yet I have not found anything remotely comparable. Good luck OP. Looks like you got some good recommendations!
