Thanks for this thread! My second grader is loving this series. I am learning that he likes historical fiction/nonfiction much better than fiction. Are any of the listed titles inappropriate for a 7 year old?

Has he tried the original American Girl series? My ds also prefers historical fiction/nonfiction and loves those books.

OP here- Thanks for the recommendations. My DC likes the extreme weather theme in the I survived series more than the wars etc. he is also 7 so no I don’t know if any of the recommendations are inappropriate for that age.

Ranger in time.

It's about a dog who goes through time to disasters who and saves kids. I know there's one about Katrina, the Titanic, and Pompei (I think). It was a little young for my son when he read it, so he only read a few,, but he seemed to enjoy the stories themselves.
