There are no speed cameras on highways though

There are in construction zones.

Really? Even on beltway?

On the parts of the Beltway in Maryland that are under construction, yes, there can be speed cameras.

In my corner of MD, there are speed cams everywhere. NO ONE is going 20 miles above the speed limit, except perhaps on stretched of 270 when they think a cop car isn't there.

The last time I drove where people were seriously speeding was last Saturday night in VA on 66...

Something for you to think about next time you have the urge to drive 20 mph over the speed limit.

Relax, I just drive with the flow of traffic. In Virginia, if the traffic in my lane starts exceeding 15, I’d get over to the right.

You can rationalize it if you want, but that does not make it safe.

If you’re on the flat open part of 66 and it’s not crowded, 75 mph in a modern car does not feel fast. And yes they will criminally charge you. So watch it.

Yes, definitely more careful in VA and more attendant to my Waze.

So you'll go 89 mph on I-95 where the speed limit is 70? Good luck with that.

hopefully pp knows that anything over 85 is also reckless in VA regardless of the speed limit

And if you are charged with reckless you're looking at a night (or two) in jail.

I think it is 80, not 85

Death rate per mile driven is much lower on highways compared to non-highways.

They raised it to 85 recently, I think it was last year.
