The risk of getting caught is very very low. The opportunity to get to work etc earlier is very great. You do the math.

Why can't the cops use infrared detectors so they don't have to stop cars to look for kids in the backseat? Any amount of cops on the highway slow or stop traffic, and now it's the law in Maryland that if a vehicle is on the shoulder you MUST switch lanes if safe and possible.

I literally saw a dude in a Honda with a mannequin passenger in the 270 HOV lane a few weeks ago. The gall!

But wouldn't the detector show the shape of the heat source?

This used to be fairly commonplace in CA where the HOV lanes were a bigger deal than they are here. Then enforcement stepped up.

Just remember, cheaters never prosper.
