We are at eastern ridge school and absolutely love it, it’s on the Vienna/McLean/great falls border. Teachers are wonderful, very nurturing and love their job. We love it for a lot of other reasons too but it definitely fits your criteria

We are at one of the Waldorf schools I listed, but have heard great things about this program.

In Alexandria, there’s Potomac Crescent Waldorf School and in Silver Spring there’s Acorn Hill. Finally, in Bethesda is Washington Waldorf School, a larger pre-k to 12th program.

We thought about these pre-COVID. But Waldorf can be anti vaccine, and we couldn’t risk it now.

And places with teachers who have been there 10 years (or even 5) tends to be a really good indicator of a nurturing environment.

This practice has never steered me wrong. The people matter - not the philosophy or the facilities. If they are happy, there is a reason and they will make your kid happy.

Our school isn’t anti-vax and I think this is an inaccurate perception of Waldorf. All teachers got the COVID vaccine and most of us are eagerly taking our kids for newly approved pediatric doses. The model is actually perfect for pandemic times because kids are outside most of the day instead of cooped up inside classrooms without fresh air. Only one case in a student over the past year at our school!

NCRC is an amazing preschool. You could move to upper NW DC in one of the neighborhoods near by - most feed to Deal/ Wilson or Hardy/ Wilson.
