| She’ll be fine! I once handed my 6 yo a water bottle from a bench on a busy DC street thinking it was the one my DH had just bought from a food truck. I was so grossed out but now we laugh about it (she’s almost 13). |

She will encounter a stray germ or two on the bottle. Her immune system will kick in, it will learn the new germ, and next time she encounters it, it will have the resource to fight back.
(My toddler once picked up a crusty seagull turd and put it in his mouth. Kids are gross.) |
|
My kid licked the outside of the toilet bowl. He’s totally fine.
My parents both grew up on farms without running water. I can only imagine the amount of dirt and germs they infested in their childhoods. They grew up to be healthy and strong. We used to joke about my dad’s iron stomach. He could eat all sorts of questionable foods and be totally fine. Modern living is sanitary in a way that was unheard of in previous times. Your child will be fine. |
| Have you ever been to a toddler play date? They mouth the toys and pass them around. The kids will be fine. |
| Oh jeez op - it’s hard but know your kid will be fine. My 3 kids suck their thumbs/fingers. I have watched as they touched the public bathroom floor and then started sucking their fingers before I could clean them. It was disgusting but they are fine. |
| I once caught my kid licking a handrail in the airport. Two days later, she was the only family member who WASN’T sick. I guess her immune system was probably on overdrive all the time at that age. |
| I’m impressed that you are a mom of 3 and concerned about this. You are definitely a much better parent than I am, as my kids do so many gross things this wouldn’t phase me a bit. |
| I hope he apologized to the family whose bottle it was.. I would not worry about your child at all. |

My son, at about 3, was riding the metro with me. As we disembarked I noticed he had gum in his mouth. He sweetly told me he picked it from under the seat. I still gag thinking about it.
He’s 13 and has a strong immune system that I will always chalk up to that horrible incident. |
Big time. One time my kid picked up a cigarette butt and put it in his mouth. DW was not informed of that. I DID, later in our time together, take him to get ice cream. To make sure THAT would be the story/lead when we got home |
| I'm a total neat freak around the house and we have a weekly housekeeper. Everything is CLEAN in my house. All that to say...stuff like this doesn't bother me at all. Kids need germs. I don't make my kids wash their hands before eating. I let me kid lick random stuff. I let them eat of the floor. They have each been sick once in their lives. |
|
The wipe inside her mouth was probably the worst thing, so much toxic junk in the wipes most people use.
I wouldn't think twice about the bottle. All kids do this as some point. |
Omg that's the real take away. You're so gross OP. Poor kids. |
