Weird issue with ref (not call-related)

Anonymous
OP please tell your child if this ever happens again ever not to hug the person, he should have said no and walked away.

You need to teach him when he doesn’t want to be touched innocent or not he has that right always

Report the ref now. Unacceptable period.

Is this the ref that walks with a slight limp? If so, yes, he seems to be friendly and mean well, but he asked my son's friend for a hug last year. Again, I don't think he intends to molest anyone, and I am sure he is just a lonely older guy, but the request shows a lack of understanding that kids need bodily autonomy and don't want to be pressured into hugs.

The ref should be getting annual training on interacting with minors, right? If not, that's an issue. And if he does, he's not paying attention to it. I had to do it as the TM who only interacted with the coach and parents. The only player I talked to was my own.

I think I know who this ref is because he hugged me and our girls coach. He is SO odd.

Sorry I have a cold and I don’t feel comfortable hugging anyone.

This.
Crazy to report this. Agree it's strange but really

Or ... ask the ref to make some calls in your team’s favor. I mean get something out of the hug at least. Kidding.

Seriously, that is odd for all the reasons everyone has stated.

Why is this ref hugging people?

Unacceptable. Who lets a stranger hug their kid? Who lets a stranger hug them?

Someone report this person, please. This is not ok in any way shape or form and I am a hugger.

This.

I don't agree. This is better than hugging I suppose, but surely better still to teach the kid to very simply say "No I'm not going to give you a hug", or just "No thanks", or "That's a very strange request sir, and not one I'm prepared to indulge". But the kid should not feel that there is anything at all wrong with a straight up refusal, nor feel any need to find an excuse or reason for saying no.

Not sure what the proper response is here, but if the ref was sniffing the kids' hair as well, the general consensus is to ignore it.

Let it go, Brandon.

The age of the Antichrist has begun. Everyone will choose a side, even though many do not understand what they are choosing between.

There is only one righteous side. They are back in control now thank goodness. History will not look favorably upon orange people nor the unvaxxed MAGAts that followed.

There are a couple refs who are socially inept and clearly have slight functional behavioral disorders. Doesn't make it okay that this happens but just an FYI

It is not the judgment of history which matters. There is another, far more important, judgment.

No, no there isn’t. Your religious beliefs are arrogant and ignorant. There is a God but that God doesn’t care about you, at all.
