I'm always surprised there aren't Moree Josephines in the world - between Winona in Little Women and The Facts of Life, I always thought Gen X would embrace Jo.

My kids are Anne and Gus, from my two favorite books, Anne of Green Gables and Lonesome Dove. For #3 I really wanted Mehitabel (Archie and Mehitabel) but had a boy instead, probably luckily, DH says.

I know a little Ophelia which feels...like a heavy name to give a child.

Josephine has gotten much more popular in recent years. I have a 4 year old and we know 3 kids with that name (one goes by Jojo and another is a Josie). I think I remember seeing it was climbing the popularity lists back when I was pregnant in 2017.

Anonymous wrote:Pip. Maybe a nickname for Pippa or Piper but couldn’t be a cuter nickname for a girl!

Pippa is usually a nickname for Philippa, not a name on it's own.

Pip is cute for a very young child, but I'd have a hard time taking an adult that goes by "pip" seriously.

I don’t. I think it’s a charming nickname. Pip from Great Expectations didn’t have a problem!

I've loved Rowan (Faulkner's home was Rowan Oak) and Hadley (one of Hemingway's wives) since I first heard them ages ago.

But both seem to be becoming popular, so glad I didn't use them.
