No. It's October 2021, not December 2020. 103 NEW positive cases yesterday. A seven-day new case rate of 61.58 per 100,000 residents. The last times Montgomery County was at about that level were August 7, 2021, and April 22, 2021. And October 13, 2020, but that was obviously before the vaccines. It's possible to make a valid argument that the current public-health response to covid is inappropriate because [reasons], but it's not possible to make a valid argument that covid is over. |
Locally, it's as close to over as it's ever going to be. It's always going to circulate. |
More than one person who is anti-vax is too many people. |
With over 90% of people vaccinated, the 103 positive cases is almost irrelevant. People will continue to catch and transmit Covid even when vaccinated. Even if the county was 100% vaccinated, we would still see positive cases. We need to look at how many deaths (and maybe hospitalizations). How many deaths were there in the county due to Covid yesterday? Go ahead and look it up. I’ll wait. Nobody is saying ‘Covid is over’, but yeah - the current public health response is worse than inappropriate and has been for months. Especially with regards to kids. |
FFS. So your goal is 100% of the planet vaccinated? Never going to happen. So we need to acknowledge a more realistic goal. What do you think that would be to make you comfortable? |
Zero deaths in mcps does not mean it cannot happen here like it just did in va. And, it’s not just about kids dying. |
Doing everything we can from a public health standpoint. Many selfish Antivax folks who just want to prove a point will get the vaccine when it gets too uncomfortable for them. Those are the ones I’d like to push. They think they are going to be fine without it and could care less if it spreads and kills some elderly person but they will get it if their kid has to quarantine for 10 days. |
You are saying it is over to justify your poor behavior. Mcps is not reflective of that vaccine rate. And except if you’ve has a blood test for all vaccines you casnot say you are fully vaccinated. There are outbreaks in Maryland at schools. Why do we need a dead kid or two to take this seriously. This isn’t going to end alone with these vaccines. |
The ones who are punished are the kids too young to be vaccinated, which you casually shrug off. They won’t be fully vaccinated and able to skip quarantine until roughly mid-December. So that’s, what, three months of this nonsense? For no good reason, mind you. It’s not okay. |
It’s not selfish to to not take a brand new vaccine. Vaccines alone are not enough. If they were we’d have no breakthrough cases. Most people vaccinated are behaving poorly. They are putting our kids at risk. |
That "almost" is doing a lot of work there. We're finally getting close to emergency use authorization for vaccines for kids 5-11. Once they are vaccinated, they won't need to quarantine. The "change the quarantine rules!" OP should get their kid(s) vaccinated once that's possible, and that will solve the problem for the OP. |
Oh, it's the copy-and-paste poster. But you're right, refusing to vaccinate your kids is foolish, not selfish. |

Unlikely. We are 98.9% vaccinated for people age 12 and over and people are still forcing these crazy quarantines. I’m not convinced we’ll see a difference when the shot is EUA for kids age 5-11. We’ll see. |
Right. But even if approved by the end of this month, that's still not until mid December that they'll be fully vaxxed. Meanwhile, they could change the rules TODAY, to save thousands of instructional days for healthy kids. The change that Frederick made this week is a good example.
