| Let’s be real. Do you not teach your children what to to do if a stranger approaches them in the street? Do you not teach your children what to do if the house is on fire? Do you not teach your children what to do if someone touches them inappropriately? Do you not teach your children what to do if a tornado comes? This is no different! We teach our children how to safely handle themselves in situations of harm. Considering children spend more time in school than out, we need to teach them in school safety as well. |
That is a common misconception. |

A kid in my son’s MS threw a tantrum last week; turned over desks and yelled “I don’t want to be here!”
- so they went into a school wide lockdown drill. Yes - for an unruly kid. Stop being such a drama-llama OP.
|
| It has always been like this. We had these 2-3 times a year. It's as normal as the fire drills. Yeah, it sucks but this is how it is now. |
Why'd they go into a lockdown drill for that? That just sounds like a special needs student who disrupted the class and they had to get administrators to calm the situation. |
| This is the world conservatives want. Unfettered access to weapons of war so that our children grow up in the most violent developed country in the world, but no masks because that will damage them. |
| I think most PPs are missing the point of OP's complaint. They're not upset that schools are preparing students for active shooters. They're upset that active shooters are STILLLLLLL a problem in schools in the year of our lord two thousand twenty one. |
The framers of the Constitution and every supreme court since disagree with you. |
Not OP, but yes , this. I know we need the drills, but we shouldn't have to need them. Merica. |
No it’s not ‘normal’ compared to the rest of the world but it is the reality of living in the United States in 2021! |
