Reality check 1/2 way through season

And how does one know their U9 team is the best in the land?

Our girls moved up a division and it has been about what I expected. Coach remains great, some of the players have been exposed, as is the roster's lack of finishers and players who can play in the middle of the field.

We stayed in our division, team lost all the "best" players who were dual rostering to pre-encl and got players coming down and players coming up to fill. Team is way better than expected as is my child's play this year and the record reflects that.

A lot of his team mates are improved as well, still a lot with basic technical problems they could fix with a few hours a week practice on their own.

is your child's team record better, the same, or worse than you think the team is?

Is the team getting better?

Are individual players improving?

Worse, but we lost a lot of players (due to kids moving up a team) during the course of the season. So in light of that, the team is doing ok,

Eh. Sort of. Some kids are, some kids are not.

See above.

Better than expected, even though they’ve moved up to a higher division.

Yes, the team is playing better as a whole; completing more passes, supporting each other, etc.

Yes, most of the players seem to have improved on an individual basis as well.

is your child's team record better, the same, or worse than you think the team is? have not won or scored a goal this season.

Is the team getting better? see above. they are worse and the coach is not helping.

Are individual players improving? some have improved because of private training and natural talent. assume they are leaving.

My kid is about to hang it up. Not having fun.

May I ask why?

Wants to play a different style and with kids who want to play the same way. Mixed levels of skill makes it hard to play. Coach joy sticks. A few examples- they are not allowed to pass back on kick off or pass through the center(anywhere on the field). This is at one of the well known clubs around here.

Barca Academy would play technical/possessive but lose more because of mistakes being capitalized upon due to that style of play. No joysticking and they want 3 dimensional passing, etc. Not passing back or allowing mistakes in the middle could lead to more W's....

Our team filled some holes on the bench going from U13 to U14, so there isn't much drop off when sending in subs. Our record is better, but I can't tell if we're getting better overall, because our competition is worse. We moved from CCL to ECNL-R. I was never a big CCL fan, but I don't think ECNL-R is any better. If anything, there are more bad teams than CCL had and less middle of the pack type teams.

The only thing that matters is that they are making progress. None of the kids who are coached properly are keeping track of their record or any of that. That is for parents who missed something while growing up and living through their kids.

Ha! What a crock!!

Everyone keeps track of wins a losses. Scouts will tell you. They look for a winner as a factor.

Um, maybe within limits. My child's team was placed in too high a division (lost the better players that got the team there based on last year's results). We have lost most games, including ones with scores like 0-9 in tournaments. This is U13. It is pretty discouraging for the kids.

Last year we were unimpressed but DS wanted to continue because he has friends on the team.

This fall the team lost some players and gained some players and it is a much better team than it was, and than we expected.

Oddly enough, practices, especially the parent led ones, are amateur hour and we are consistently disappointed in some of the kids' behavior. We were just talking this week about whether or not we should say something, because with one kid in particular it borders on bullying (not our child, but that shouldn't matter).

I think everyone got worse, so some teams that you beat in 2019 you're losing to now, and vice versa.

So its not travel..

Confused by this. How is a parent led team travel even locally travel?
