FCCPS - hateful speech recently

Betting those on this thread who think the school shouldn’t have published it are not from FCC. Every parent I know is horrified and frankly I wish they’d publish the names of the racists as well. I’d like to know which parents are raising these kids.

Well I'm from FCC and I'd like to know your identity. If we're going to name-and-shame the transgressors, we should also name-and-praise the publicly extra-pious, right? Fair's fair. Plus, it'll give the hopefully very regretful child and his parents a chance to make sure their accusers haven't said or done anything, ever, that they regret and would prefer not be made public.

I’m a teacher in FCC and do not agree with the way it was handled. No real details, even to staff, and this video did more to start rumors than stop anything. I have not heard of any specific incident other than the one posted on this thread and that poster admits it is a rumor.

Now the vandalism is a different issue. That is happening and is apparent to all.

Noonan has an agenda - hell he spear-headed renaming our schools. He "stretched the truth" about their being a COVID incident to justify keeping the schools closed. This very well is another virtue-signaling move on his part. I don't disagree with the message, I just don't like Noonan. He's very political and most people don't see it.

Yeah, and they should publish the names of kids getting in fights so everyone can see who’s raising violent kids. And the names of the bathroom vandals so people can see who’s raising criminals. And so on. Do you know how ridiculous you sound? Of course what happened is bad. But it’s not uniquely bad & doesn’t mean the kid is being raised by racists. Kids do mean & stupid things & need to know that’s not acceptable at all. But it doesn’t mean they’re beyond redemption & learning.

Why did the school need to publish this incident and rile up the community? Seems the kids handled themselves well and the offender can face appropriate school discipline.

Are you serious? Do you know the history of the city you live in?

No I don't know the history of this city nor does anyone else who moved here from somewhere else. I don't know anyone here who wants to live the past of FCCPS, whatever that is, which I am assuming is something racist since you are asking. Are you implying that in 2021 a majority of households are using the N-word? I try to exist in the non-Twitter world so if there's something I'm missing please let me know.

I’m glad they said something. It gave me the opportunity to discuss it with my child and we had a meaningful conversation. We had already heard the initial story with the JV football players - and also that they only got suspended for 1 game (and no school suspension or anything). If that’s true, it seems like a non-consequence so no wonder it happened again.
I don’t agree with the poster who wanted to publish the names (also, the kids all know who was involved in the JV incident) but these are minors. I’m hoping for meaningful consequences (either from the school or from their families) and the work to be done.

Yes, we should gather as a community and burn them on a pyre as they’ve outed themselves as witches. Or I guess we could do the contemporary equivalent: harass their employer until they are fired, generally ostracize and harass them…

Maybe you and your racist kid should go back to where you came from, you clearly don't belong in this area. WOW.

Haven't you wondered why your kids' schools are like 95% white while all of the surrounding schools are much more diverse?
Anonymous
No excuse for using this language. However, FCCPS schools are not 95 percent white. Minorities make up about 37 percent of the school population, which is similar to many other schools in the area.

(PP here again) Not just one isolated racial incident. And then of course the Tik Tok vandalism.

Does your school publish incidents of other bullying or just incidents of usage of this one racist word?

Don't be silly.

Of course messages are sent out about the acts of vandalism, bullying, and other widespread incidents that are affecting the student body.

The kid didn't know that only black "music artists" can call each other the n-word.

But why is this an incident? Because it fits the liberal elites agenda.

Because we need to shine light into the ugly corners in order to help people understand that this happens everywhere, even in "nice" schools, "nice" towns and "nice" families. Because I don't consider it "riling up the community" to get people aware and angry about abusive, racist language. Because there need to be consequences for choosing to act that way, beyond a quiet conference with your parents and the vice principal.

Who is "shining the light" on rappers using the word all over their music??
Where's your outrage?

The rules and hypocrisy of the left sure are confusing aren't they?
Rappers can call each other n******.

Black lives matter except if the black baby is not born yet - then their lives don't matter.

NP here. Perhaps, but do they publish info about every fight, act of vandalism, etc. Kids do stupid, harmful, sometimes illegal stuff all the time, unfortunately.

No, only when it fits the justice warrior agenda. White kids are called racial names all of the time but you never hear about it.
