Keeps preppers guesssing!

Don't worry about the preppers. They don't need any prep to compete with your kids.

There is no secret special formula that mcps has....the only formula they will be using is increasing diversity in high school magnets. The only way to do that is by decreasing the group of people that are THE highest represented in magnets...Asians.

Aren't you tired of posting the same drivel on every single thread about magnets? I'm sorry your prepped-to-the-gills Asian genius child didn't get into Takoma but it's time to give it a rest.
Geez.

NP here. Not all Asians prep, so stop stereotyping and believing that just Bc an Asian is in the magnet prgm, they prepped. Geez

NP here, but the poster said "Your...Asian genius child" meaning he/she was talking about previous poster's and not all Asians.

They do not always get it right because they don't have all the info. They thought they were offering a minority kid a spot recently (friend of my kid) but she is Argentinian, her parents went to UMD and have lived here at least 20 years. Wealthy. Not actual minorities...

Except the county wouldn't do this because it's completely illegal and would get them sued. Either you're attempting to mislead people or horribly misinformed.

MCPS is transparent, in that, it is very clear that the priority of MCPS is to achieve EQUITY not EXCELLENCE. Hell, MCPS doesn’t even want to achieve competency.

The message is clear. They have gutted the MS Magnets, and changed the whole CES. Not sure what will happen with these types of high-performing HS magnets. We will find out in the next few years.

Not only magnets and CES programs, now they have changed their focus on gutting Honors classes too. Blair is piloting an "All Honors" program for 9th graders. If everyone is Honors, then no one is Honors. This is just nuts.

+1 Admissions are race blind but FARMS is considered as a proxy.

Similar to Advanced English in MCPS Middle Schools. It is ridiculous.

Oh, noes! It will be like a W where everyone takes honors!

They should lower it down to 80% since that's the state's cutoff for giftedness.

Everyone gets the same salary. Whether they work or not! All are equal.
