Scan FB marketplace for furniture - lots of great things on there! Finally - a new rug.

Oh my, apologies for my typos..iPhone thumb!

And get some cozy throw blankets. And pillows.

Nah, I spend a lot of time and money on my house and it really does look like a magazine (whether you like it or not, it’s “done”) and I still get tired of everything periodically. Human nature.

But don’t live with drab little curtains! Fix that.

Declutter.

That always works for me and then I swap accessories from other rooms.

I agree with decluttering. Switch up pictures and accessories. New colors with pillows, frames, houseplants will help too.

I'm trying to gear up to re-cover our dining area chairs. I picked out fabric but the whole process is so overwhelming.

Clean the windows until they sparkle. Inside and out. Use winded and a newspaper in lieu of a paper towel.

Literally you’ll see each room in a different light. Start with one room or one corner of one room. Gradually dust, declutter straighten.

I don't have the $$ for a total overhaul of our stuff - but I can probably put maybe $1000 into getting some stuff that'll help me love my house again. I guess I should try rearranging some things - and then: how do I come to love my house again?!

I think if you spend anytime on social media, looking at magazines or watching makeover shows you will feel discontent. This is coming from a person who can relate to the saying that “comparison is the thief of joy”.

Pp here. I forgot to include my remedy. Less time comparing and more time being grateful. That’s helping me a lot. Otherwise, some new pillows, sheets, blankets go a long way.

Same. I just move things around.

I hear you.

When you can, replace furniture that's at the end of its useful life. If there's still life left, change things up with different throw pillows can make a big difference. I have "revived" a worn out leather couch by changing up the pillows from something generic to french farm chic style and all of a sudden, it acquires a whole new look.

Also, ruthlessly declutter.

meant to add: ruthlessly declutter and use plants and greeneries to freshen things up.

I don’t exactly hate everything in my house, but I’ve been here for a good while an it is reaching a point where I want to make a lot of changes and do a lot of remodeling. The amount of what I want to do is overwhelming and so I just sit on it rather than fix anything. I occasionally change around a few throw pillows or add a new mirror or something and that makes me feel a bit better but my issues with my house are bigger than that.

I did Havenly for our bedroom - amazing how much the right rug and a dresser and moving the layout changed our room! They work with what you have + what you need. I didn’t choose the exact rug they suggested but found something similar and cheaper that I loved.

This is OP - and I definitely am not comparing myself to HGTV and I'm not even on Instagram. My Facebook is mostly about dog rescue so it's couches covered in dog hair! I am super grateful and ALSO my couch looks like sht and six years into living here I can't get the art right in our TV room!! Pillows and blankets might be the thing for now. And decluttering and just moving some stuff around.

Take some pictures of you room-all four walls. A still picture sometime shows what’s not working. Could you ask a friend to help?
