WFH sucks. Are there any offices you can rent?

I miss having a professional environment and corporate-level facilities, e.g. desks, chairs, printers, shredders etc. I don’t care about the people, I’m only friends with the cleaning people. Plus I hate the conference calls. Do we really have to listen to people’s stupid dogs yapping away, or gurgling toddlers? I don’t see how this is a viable way to work. I don’t miss the toilets.

You'd still be doing conference calls though, right? Since it's not like you're back in your office bldg with your own coworkers.

I totally get why OP wants to leave the house. It provides structure and routine and separates your work life from home. I have to go in to the office and while I was dreading it, I love it now. So nice to be around other adults and we can chat about quick work things so easily

NP here - I miss getting dressed and leaving my own home, stopping for coffee on the way, and then being in a office with other grownups who've also gotten dressed and left their homes. Yeah I do miss my coworkers too but I can't do anything about that. I can do something about the being home 24-7 problem - also looking for an office like OP.

You know you can get dressed, get coffee and leave your house (oh, and have actual friends) every day without going into the office, right?

Leave my house and go where to work for 8-10 hours? It's not just about leaving my house and wandering Target like all the middle aged moms do, it's about leaving my house and going somewhere where I can productively work - and no I'm not parking myself in a coffee shop or public library for 10 hrs/day. And friends and coworkers are two different things. I have friends. I'm not seeing them at 11 am on a Tuesday because they have jobs too, maybe yours don't? I talk to coworkers about things we work on, which my friends rightly have no interest in as I too am not interested in their work. What is so hard to understand here??

I’m not interested in being with my coworkers, I don’t particularly care for any of them. I just want an office to work in. The conference calls will have to be tolerated, I don’t think that’s going to change.

My company we did a counter wide deal with WeWorks. We are all WFG but anyone can check into a WeWork to work in an office if needed or just mental reasons

What is stopping you from getting a nice desk, printer, and shredder? I have all of those things (had them even before Covid). Do what you like, but this seems like a dumb reason to waste $1k/month

Working from a We Work space seems like a major downgrade from WFH, unless you have a crappy or overcrowded home.

Not OP, but I don't have the room for that in my house. Both my spouse and I are working from home and due to a bad and unsafe daycare experience, we now have in-home child care. I rent a space at We Work 1-2x a week. I really like having somewhere to go and work uninterrupted that's comfortable. We live in the city and our house is small but it is close to our offices. We are waiting to see how often we will have to go back to the office and will decide from there whether we need to move somewhere where both of us can have dedicated offices or stay here. Until then, We Work it is.
