Others have mentioned the schools I wanted to suggest:
Rhodes (has environmental science) in Memphis, but a suburban campus, so doesn’t feel like a city Rollins (has environmental studies but not environmental science) in FL. A friend’s daughter goes there and raves about it, and it does look gorgeous. |

Do you mean Southern in culture, or not just not somewhere with cold whether?
Some good schools with warm weather that are not culturally Southern: Santa Clara University University of San Diego University of San Francisco Pepperdine University of Miami Make sure your kid does not relegate themselves to the Cotton Belt just because they want warm weather. |

Berry College in Rome, GA
Small enrollment but world’s largest campus, so lots of nature. There’s a very strong sense of community. Lists majors of Environmental Studies and Environmental Science Great campus jobs program that focuses on skills and development. While not required, most students participate at some point. https://www.berry.edu/ppd/lifeworks/ |
not a quality education by any stretch of the imagination |
Thanks! Not necessarily southern culture--he just doesn't want much colder weather than what we get here. We are originally from California and he specfically doesn't want to go to a college there. |

Berry College Austin College Hendrix Furman Spring Hill Montevallo Mercer Hamden-Sydney Washington & Lee (may be a reach) One public suggestion is Ole Miss. It has around 24,000 students, so it’s larger than you requested, but it doesn’t have that overwhelming feeling you get at many state flagships. Oxford is a great little college town. |
Elon is just over $50K. |

Is Miami of OH too cold?
Would Wake Forest be too competitive? |
