School suggestions: Smaller (<8,000), not in a big city, southern?

Anonymous
After mostly looking at BIG schools for the past two years, my senior is suddenly thinking he might prefer a smaller school.

He doesn't want to go further much north than the DC area (weather.)

He doesn't want to be in a big city (for reference, he looked at UT in Knoxville and that was too "big city" for him.)

His stats aren't good enough to get into a very selective school.

He wants to major in enviornmental sciences.

He is open to Catholic schools (or other religions) as long as it's not too restrictive or fundamentalist (for example, Christendom.)

I'm thinking of suggesting he look at University of Dayton, but does anyone else have suggestions? Thank you.

Davidson is super competitive so probably not a good fit.

Check out Wofford or Furman.
