Yes, it's BY next year either way.

Is it?….

Yes, in many states, leagues who have already held tryouts under the current structure of BY. I guess these rumored "transitional" rules could certainly change things BUT if they rock the boat too much parents will freak and greatly affect their choices for the following year.

The way that both GA and ECNL hold the information tightly means they already have a pact. They will both be 9/1 to 8/31.

You’re smoking something good.

ECNL isn’t holding information tightly…it’s already confirmed 9/1 in 26/27z

GA isn’t holding anything tightly, it’s already BY. The person who mentioned director updates today is making it up / spitballing. If the directors know, 100% it gets out the same day. I should know. 🤣

Not making it up. GA sent a survey to its clubs to get feedback on the age change. The results of that survey were discussed with the board on Wednesday. A decision and announcement will be made by the end of the month or by the annual meeting in June.

Yea…that’s very different from “GA is announcing 5/22” which turned into “GA is sending info to directors 5/22” and now “GA will make a decision by annual meeting in June” 🤡

Never said any of those things. My info, directly from the commish, has always been that they sent a survey to the clubs and that those result and their decision would be discussed with the board on the 22nd. And after that they would announce it to the league. She said that announcement would be either by the end of the month or their AGM meeting in June. Ask her and she’ll tell you the same thing. Her email is easy to find. Still don’t know what the results are, or what they’re deciding, and it hasn’t leaked most likely because they haven’t told the leagues, just the board of directors for GA.

I actually talk to Trish almost weekly, you’re full of it.

Thank you.

If they go by the survey, it would be a slam dunk. No clubs wants to deal with two different registrations, and certainly not the U12 SY to U13 BY transition mess.

Ok. Then ask her. Why on earth would that be made up? Just trying to pass along info that was given to me (I her asked directly) so other parents know too.

When GA is going to announce and the process they’re using to get feedback isn’t some big secret, leak, etc. Of course they’re looking into the age change. Still no clue on if it’s going to change or not.

GA and mlsnext will change, only question is when they will announce and if it’s strict 9/1 or BY with some sort of exceptions for sept-dec birthdays. As much as they may have wanted to stay BY they have no choice but to adapt with everyone else going 9/1.

MLS academies are the only ones that could potentially stick with strict BY.

Nope GA can do whatever they want.

This. Except it’s U12 SY to U13 BY for jan-august and U11 SY to U13 BY for sept to dec. what a mess!

They CAN do whatever they want. They can also not be a viable league in 3-4 years. There will be a change.

So you are asking the Sep to Dec kids to skip a year. No thanks , they will go to a SY league with all their inherent RAE advantage instead.

Good that we both agree that GA can do whatever they want.

The rest of what you wrote is your opinion. Which belive it or not everyone on DCUM seems to also have.

I have a June born daughter playing GA. Nothing to gain by arguing for SY, but it’s pretty clear how this is going to play out. Doesn’t matter if you see it now or not, it will all be public within a few months.

GA does not need to do what MLSN does. Completely different leagues serving completely different clientele.

Just need some clarification if my daughter is an August born 2009 grade 9 . Would she be able to play her senior year? Are local cut off was 8/15.
