The way that both GA and ECNL hold the information tightly means they already have a pact. They will both be 9/1 to 8/31.

You’re smoking something good.

ECNL isn’t holding information tightly…it’s already confirmed 9/1 in 26/27z

GA isn’t holding anything tightly, it’s already BY. The person who mentioned director updates today is making it up / spitballing. If the directors know, 100% it gets out the same day. I should know. 🤣

Not making it up. GA sent a survey to its clubs to get feedback on the age change. The results of that survey were discussed with the board on Wednesday. A decision and announcement will be made by the end of the month or by the annual meeting in June.

Yea…that’s very different from “GA is announcing 5/22” which turned into “GA is sending info to directors 5/22” and now “GA will make a decision by annual meeting in June” 🤡

Never said any of those things. My info, directly from the commish, has always been that they sent a survey to the clubs and that those result and their decision would be discussed with the board on the 22nd. And after that they would announce it to the league. She said that announcement would be either by the end of the month or their AGM meeting in June. Ask her and she’ll tell you the same thing. Her email is easy to find. Still don’t know what the results are, or what they’re deciding, and it hasn’t leaked most likely because they haven’t told the leagues, just the board of directors for GA.

Just make it what every month your child was born. If you have multiple kids? Just use your oldest birth month and as that one ages out or quits soccer, just move it to the next child in line's birth month.

So with a Q4 2012 would you commit to a club with GA not knowing their plan???

How far does the team practice from your house?

Is the coach good?

We are debating between 2 clubs. One we know will be SY platform. Distance, coaching- all equal. Just don't want a trap year.

Some people just want to be right and like to "guess with authority".

Go back to when this thread started last July and there were people posting that SY would happen in Aug. Then it slipped to Oct. Then it slipped to Nov when US Soccer made a statement that leagues can decide what works best for them.

ECNL + US Club have indicated that they'll be 9/1. GA and MLS haven't made a statement.

Even with 9/1 leagues could add extra rules for things like biobsnding or special waivers for players born 7/1-9/1 who would still be considered trapped players.

On top of everything else GA could just say 7/1 as their cutoff which would force ECNL to do 7/1 as well or give up 2 months of players. Also ECNL teams could play in GA tournaments but GA teams wouldn't be able to play in ECNL tournaments. What this means is theres a financial pressure for GA to choose an earlier date than 9/1.

Im pretty sure youre making things up just to make it seem like whichever league does SY will get more players.

The realiy is if you're this worried about trapped players now you're probably over involved and will take your kid to whichever team is ranked highest.

That’s what everyone does if their kids are good enough.

If I had a q4 player going into 8th in 26/27 I would absolutely be considering a SY team over a BY team all other things being somewhat equal. No trapped year and placed in the correct recruiting cycle. If my child was younger I would try to keep them playing up as long as possible.

It is annoying the way info is trickling out. If you are in a good situation now with good coaching, I would sit tight for 25/26 and make a decision for 26/27 when you have all the information. You’ll have the upper hand going into tryouts spring 2026 with a q4 player so no need to make moves now unless it’s absolutely necessary.
