I know a lot of people here are anxious for plans but as far as I can see it theres just nothing to say. US Club said it would be 9/1 in 26-27, thats a long way from now.

I think ecnl is pretty straightforward - 9/1 as of 26/27. There may be exceptions like GY for showcases and allowing trapped players to play down during high school season for 8th graders. I don’t think anything surprising will come from them… but I could be wrong.

Still waiting for information from GA and mlsnext. I’m also curious if futsal will change. No real reason for them to change other than everyone else is. A lot of club teams play futsal together in the winter. Will be interesting to see what happens.

If it was straight forward they would have no problem saying that. My buddy is an ECNL director on girls side for large ECNL club in California. He said after the announcement was made he emailed asking about the change and what the plans are and got a response that ECNL “would assists” he sent a follow up email as recent as last week asking for clarification for next year and 26/27.
No response.

He thinks something could be coming down the pipeline because ECNL is usually quick to respond to his questions. He’s not sure if ECNL/GA are in some sort of stand off of who will announce what first like a game of poker.

That’s interesting. I had assumed they weren’t yet acknowledging it because it is still 24/25 and they don’t want to take away from this season and the next. Could be that they don’t want to announce anything and have GA develop a better plan.

Have GA develop a better plan for what? Changing registration dates? Or waivers or whatever?

It goes the other way as well. All ECNL has confirmed is 9/1. They could easily add things that like waivers or whatever.

GA waiting the decision out is/was a smart play.

ECNL has not confirmed anything. Only thing they have confirmed is US club is probably going 9/1 I don’t think they’ve talked about it since it’s been official.

Ah yes I forgot that ECNL and US Club are completely different

The idea that US Club would say 9/1 and then later ECNL might just be like nope, BY, YOLO! Is the most hillarious turn of events in this thread.

I asked the coach of the 2013 team if there were any plans for trapped players to train with their post age change team, and he said nope, haven’t even thought about that yet. All of our age groups are preparing for San Diego so I’m guessing that’s the focus.

A 2012 isn't trapped this coming season. The fall 2011s are trapped.

The know it alls in this group. 🙄 My 2012 will never, in fact, be trapped in ECNL. The age change will prevent it. She is in a group of players that are born Q4 and are in general called trapped. But good on you for making that point.

What if ECNL implemented buobanding?
What if ECNL did full GY?

This is why its smart for GA not to comment. It puts ECNL in a reactionary negotiating position.

That goes both ways? Who’s going to announce first? Who has confidence in their plan?

We need more talk like this. So much more entertaining than the +60 guy.

All the higher leagues ECNL Mlsn ga need to have the same cutoff as the pipeline or chaos and they risk losing business without being able to move kids up and down year to year

Actually its in leagues best interest to have wacky cutoff dates that are different from other teams. This is because it won't allow teams from different leagues to play each other in tournaments. They will be forced to only play at events run by the league.

The problem with deviating from the pipeline is RAE from u6-u12 is baked in to give sept-Dec better coaching and competition. U13 if you do BY instead of SY then you are going to bias towards Jan-jun kids who were on average no exposed to the better coaching and competition during u6-u12.

Yeah I actually prefer BY for its simplicity, but if both age cutoffs are used then I know the parents will be breathing down our necks why their kid was a top player at u12 but got bumped at u13, tournaments are going to be a headache too

For the sake of business, all P2P clubs will have the same cutoff, either 1/1 or 9/1. SY+ or parents who want a waiver will be hugely disappointed soon.

Nobody wants a waiver

Leagues that dont accommodate players that are in the right grade but unable to compete create their own issues.

MLSN already uses waivers for biobanding?
